How to Use T-Locker in Seoul: Find an Available Subway Luggage Locker Before You Arrive
Dragging a suitcase through Seoul can quickly turn an exciting day into an exhausting one. Subway stations have stairs, long transfer passages, crowded platforms, and exits that may be several blocks away from one another. Fortunately, many Seoul subway stations have luggage lockers—but simply finding a locker does not guarantee that one will be available.
I saw this problem firsthand at World Cup Stadium Station.
I had gone to Seoul World Cup Stadium to watch an international football match between South Korea and Uruguay yesterday. Near the station, I noticed foreign visitors arriving with their luggage. They went to the station lockers, only to discover that every suitable compartment was already occupied.
With nowhere to leave their bags, they had to carry everything back onto the subway and travel to another station.
The situation could probably have been avoided by checking locker availability through T-Locker before arriving. This guide explains how travelers can find available lockers, compare locker sizes, use the T-Locker app, access the newer QR web service, and prepare a backup plan when lockers are full.

First, Know the Difference: T-Locker, T-Luggage, and T-Storage
The similar names can be confusing, especially when they are translated into English.
T-Locker — Short-Term Subway Lockers
T-Locker, known in Korean as 또타라커, is the service most tourists need. These are unattended lockers installed inside Seoul subway stations for the short-term storage of backpacks, shopping bags, and suitcases.
According to Seoul’s official information, T-Locker operates at 336 locations across 273 subway stations, providing more than 5,500 individual lockers.
T-Luggage — Staffed Storage and Delivery
T-Luggage, or 또타러기지, provides staffed luggage storage and delivery at selected major stations. It is useful when you have an oversized suitcase, need assistance, or want your luggage delivered between a station and Incheon International Airport.
T-Luggage centers are available at several major transportation and tourist hubs, including Seoul Station, Hongik University Station, Myeongdong Station, Gimpo Airport Station, and Jamsil Station. Locations and operating hours may change, so check the official service before visiting.
T-Storage — Long-Term Personal Storage
T-Storage, or 또타스토리지, is not primarily intended for tourists who need to leave a suitcase for a few hours. It is a monthly personal-storage service for seasonal clothing, hobby equipment, documents, and other belongings.
For a day of sightseeing, a football match, a concert, or the hours between hotel check-out and a flight, search for T-Locker, not T-Storage.

Where Is World Cup Stadium Station?
World Cup Stadium Station is on Seoul Subway Line 6. It provides access to Seoul World Cup Stadium, Haneul Park, Peace Park, and nearby shopping facilities.
The station becomes extremely crowded during football matches, concerts, festivals, and other large events. On those days, large lockers may be occupied long before an event begins.
A major event station is exactly where you should not assume that a locker will be available. Check before traveling and prepare at least one alternative station.
Check Locker Availability Before You Arrive
One of the most useful features of T-Locker is the ability to search participating subway stations and view locker availability on your phone.
Search for “T locker 또타라커” in Google Play or the Apple App Store. Be careful not to download an unrelated luggage app with a similar name.
The official app is primarily in Korean, so foreign visitors may find the interface difficult at first. A phone’s screen-translation or camera-translation function can help with unfamiliar menu items.

The basic app process is:
Download and open the T-Locker app.
Allow location access if you want to search nearby stations.
Search for the subway station you plan to visit.
Select the locker location inside the station.
Check the number of available small, medium, and large lockers.
Choose the appropriate locker size.
Review the price and conditions.
Complete the reservation and payment.
Follow the instructions to open the locker and store your luggage.
Keep all confirmation information until you retrieve your belongings.
Do not check availability in the morning and assume that the locker will remain empty until the afternoon. At popular stations, large compartments can disappear quickly. If the app permits you to complete the reservation and payment in advance, do so as close as practical to your planned arrival.
Also confirm the locker’s exact position inside the station. Some stations have multiple locker banks near different exits or on different floors. A station may appear to have availability, but the locker could be a long walk from the exit you need.

New in 2026: Use a Locker by Scanning Its QR Code
Travelers previously needed the T-Locker app for many smart lockers. Seoul Metro has now expanded a web-based option at stations where its lockers operate.
At a compatible locker:
Find the QR code attached to the locker.
Scan it with your phone’s camera.
Select the web-use option.
Follow the webpage instructions.
Choose an available compartment.
Enter the required contact or verification information.
Complete the payment.
Store your luggage and carefully save the retrieval information.
This method does not require a separate app installation or app membership, making it particularly convenient for short-term foreign visitors.
However, there is an important difference between the two methods.
The QR option is most useful when you are already standing in front of a locker. The app is more useful before arrival because it can help you search stations and check occupancy. For a major event, using the app to investigate availability before traveling is still the safer strategy.
Locker models and instructions may vary. Always follow the information displayed on the locker you are using rather than assuming every machine operates identically.
T-Locker Sizes and Current Fees
T-Locker compartments are generally divided into three sizes:
Small: 50 × 30 × 60 cm
Medium: 50 × 45 × 60 cm
Large: 50 × 90 × 60 cm
A small locker is suitable for a daypack, handbag, or compact shopping bag. A medium locker may hold a larger backpack or small suitcase. Large lockers are designed for bigger luggage, but suitcase shapes and wheel dimensions vary.
Do not rely only on the luggage size printed by the manufacturer. Measure your suitcase at its widest points, including wheels, handles, and exterior pockets.
The official base rates for four hours are:
Small: KRW 2,200 on weekdays / KRW 3,100 on weekends
Medium: KRW 3,300 on weekdays / KRW 4,600 on weekends
Large: KRW 4,400 on weekdays / KRW 6,100 on weekends
After the initial four hours, additional hourly charges apply:
Small: KRW 500 per hour
Medium: KRW 800 per hour
Large: KRW 1,000 per hour
Rates and conditions can change, so confirm the final amount shown in the app, website, or locker instructions before paying.
The service supports several electronic payment methods, but acceptance of a particular foreign-issued card should never be assumed. Carry a second card and keep another storage option in mind if payment fails.

What to Do When Every Locker Is Full
This is the most important section for travelers.
If the lockers at your destination station are full, do not immediately travel to the next station without checking. That station may also be crowded, particularly when thousands of people are attending the same event.
Instead:
1. Search Nearby Stations in the App
Check several stations along the same subway line. Look specifically for the size you need. Ten available small lockers will not help if you are carrying a large suitcase.
2. Choose a Station on Your Return Route
Do not store your luggage somewhere that creates another unnecessary journey later. If you will return to Hongdae, Seoul Station, Myeongdong, or the airport, choose a locker along that route.
3. Try a Less Busy Station Before the Event Area
The station immediately beside a stadium or concert venue will have the greatest demand. It may be faster to store your luggage two or three stations earlier and continue to the event without it.
4. Consider T-Luggage for Large Suitcases
If all large lockers are occupied, a staffed T-Luggage center may be more practical. This is also useful if your bag is too large for a standard locker or you need airport delivery.
5. Ask Your Hotel
Many hotels and guesthouses will hold luggage before check-in or after check-out. Ask in advance, even if the service is not clearly advertised.
6. Do Not Wait for a Locker to Become Available
There is no reliable way to know when another traveler will return. Waiting beside a full locker bank can waste valuable sightseeing or event time.
Special Advice for Football Matches and Concerts
Large events create an unusual level of locker demand. Visitors may arrive from the airport, check out of hotels, or travel directly from another city with luggage.
If you are attending an event at Seoul World Cup Stadium:
Check availability before boarding the subway.
Avoid bringing a large suitcase if possible.
Store luggage near your hotel or along your return route.
Arrive earlier than usual.
Save a screenshot of the locker location.
Photograph the locker number after storing your bag.
Confirm that you can retrieve it before the station closes.
Keep your phone charged because access information may be digital.
Event-day crowds can also make it difficult to move through the station with wheeled luggage. Even if a locker is technically available, reaching it through a crowded corridor may be stressful.
The safest approach is to store your luggage before entering the busiest section of your route.
Operating Hours and Items You Should Not Store
Official guidance states that T-Locker storage and retrieval are generally available from 5:00 a.m. to midnight. You cannot access your belongings outside the applicable station and locker operating hours.
Do not leave collection until the final minute. Subway entrances, underground connections, and sections of large stations may close at different times.
Prohibited or unsuitable items include:
Cash and valuable jewelry
Explosives or flammable materials
Weapons
Animals and plants
Medicine requiring controlled storage
Perishable or strong-smelling food
Leaking liquids
Illegal items
Keep your passport, wallet, medication, phone, power bank, and essential travel documents with you. A luggage locker is convenient, but it should not contain anything you cannot afford to be separated from.

Using T-Locker During an Incheon Airport Layover
T-Locker can also help travelers who enter Seoul during a long stopover. However, carrying a large suitcase all the way from Incheon Airport simply to find a full locker in Seoul is risky.
First determine whether your checked luggage is automatically transferred to your next flight. If you must collect it, airport storage or luggage delivery may be more convenient than carrying it onto the AREX train.
